Son of a former civil rights lawyer and activist, Martin Stewart, a lawyer himself, has distanced himself from African-American culture in every way he knows how. Abandoning the love for jazz his father instilled in him and the activism that was passed from his mother's heart, Martin distracts himself from his identity by practicing law.
But just after Martin lands the biggest case of his career, his father, an avid jazz player comes to visit turning his life upside down. Paired with a devastating diagnosis from his doctor, the visit from Malik Stewart causes Martin to examine the lives of his father and mother, an interracial couple who forged their love for one another through their activism in the Civil Rights movement.
Set in Philadelphia, the story of this "Fair Son" captures the essence of the identity, love and reconciliation all families must encounter as they mend the broken hearts, souls and lives that come from years of struggle.
